What is WEEX?
WEEX is a centralized exchange and crypto trading platform. Like many other Bitcoin exchanges, WEEX offers several services, including spot and futures trading, OTC trading, buying crypto for fiat, copy trading, participating in various airdrops, and using promotions.
WEEX boasts deep liquidity and daily trading volumes that are often in the low billions. Its brand ambassador is Michael Owen, the famous English striker who’s played for some of the world’s biggest football clubs and the English national team.
The exchange boasts a 1,000 BTC fund that offers protection for deposited funds and aims to be transparent about this and its other offerings to users. It’s also designed with the user in mind, which is why it’s very easy to use. However, it offers enough complex features and tools to accommodate experienced traders as well.
More on that will be discussed later in the review.
WEEX’s Products & Services
Here’s an overview of WEEX’s products and services:
Unfortunately, WEEX doesn’t offer staking services at the moment. If you’re interested in a staking platform, check our list of the best crypto staking sites.
Visit WEEXWhat Cryptocurrencies Can You Trade on WEEX?
WEEX supports more than 600 cryptocurrencies. The list is a good mix of known and niche cryptos. Here are some of the coins and tokens you’ll get to trade on WEEX:
WEEX Fees
WEEX takes the same approach to trading fees as most other exchanges. There are maker and taker fees for both spot and futures trades, and WEEX has a VIP system where fees decrease as your level increases.
Spot fees start from 0.1% for both makers and takers and go to 0% on the highest VIP level. Futures, on the other hand, start at 0.02% (makers) and 0.08% (takers) and drop to 0.01% and 0.04% respectively.
VIP levels are determined by your 30-day futures trading volume, a 5-day average on your asset balance, or a 1-day WXT holding amount. WXT is the WEEX native token, which I’ll cover later in the review.
As for payment expenses, WEEX doesn’t have deposit fees, while its withdrawal fees depend on the crypto used.
| Spot trading | Makers/takers 0.1% |
| Futures trading | Makers 0.02%
Takers 0.08% |
| Deposit fee | None |
| Withdrawal fee | 0.00016 BTC
3 USDT (ERC-20) 1.5 USDT (TRC-20) 0.0015 ETH |
User Experience: Is WEEX User-Friendly?
Almost every WEEX exchange review on Trustpilot that talks about the user experience, even the negative ones, praises WEEX as a user-friendly platform. After researching for my own review, I’ve found that I agree.
The exchange has a sleek and modern interface that is entirely intuitive. It might not be the easiest to use for complete beginners, but no exchange is. However, it’s not difficult to understand and learn with a little effort, and that’s what makes this platform user-friendly.
The good news is that there aren’t any complex features, meaning the platform was designed to be as minimalist as possible. For those still overwhelmed, WEEX’s copy trading feature lets you copy the trades of more experienced users, and there is a demo account where you can try trading without risking real funds.
WEEX App
WEEX offers a mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. Both apps have 4.6 stars on their respective stores, while the Android app has been downloaded over one million times.
The app is just as user-friendly as the website, with users generally praising its streamlined interface and easy-to-reach features. Some issues have been reported at times, like orders and balances being displayed incorrectly or price data taking a long time to update, but nothing too serious.
Features & Tools
WEEX has many useful features and tools that many traders and crypto fans will appreciate. Let’s take a closer look:
Futures Trading With Leverage
WEEX lets you trade perpetual futures contracts settled in USDT. The platform enables you to pick the trading pairs, margin mode, position mode, order type, and even leverage, which can go up to 200x on select markets.
TradingView Integration
WEEX has integrated with TradingView, providing traders with advanced charting capabilities, drawing tools, and more than 100 technical indicators to help with trading strategies.
Advanced Trading Tools
You get several advanced order modes like GTC or Good-Till-Cancelled, FOK or Fill-or-Kill, and IOC or Immediate-or-Cancel. More than that, you can manage risk through both isolated-margin and cross-margin modes. WEEX also offers the Auto Earn tool that lets you get daily interest on your USDT deposits, which you don’t have to lock like in regular staking.
Launchpad: WE-Launch
The WE-Launch feature offers weekly airdrops. You can participate for free just by holding WXT tokens. If you have at least 1,000 WXT and an airdrop is active, all you need to do is commit and then claim the rewards.
WEEX Wallet
WEEX, like most CEXs, has a wallet connected to the exchange, which is web-based and custodial. The funds in it are yours, but the private keys are stored with WEEX. This means that it’s much better to transfer all the funds you’re not using to your own non-custodial wallet.
On top of that, the wallet on WEEX is effectively tied to the exchange, so you can only store the cryptocurrencies the platform supports.
Crypto Deposits & Withdrawals
The main method of depositing on WEEX is with crypto from an external wallet. There’s no option to deposit fiat currency, but you can use fiat to buy crypto, using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Visa. However, to do that, you’ll need to complete the KYC process, and you’re limited to buying up to 3,000 USDT.
Similarly to deposits, you can withdraw crypto to your external wallet. If you haven’t completed the KYC procedure, you can withdraw as much as 10,000 USDT or up to 500,000 USDT per day, with the exact limit depending on your VIP level. If you’ve verified your identity, then these amounts increase to 1,000,000 and 15,000,000 USDT per day. This makes it one of the best no-KYC crypto exchanges.
Minimum withdrawal amounts depend on the crypto used, and you also have to pay a fee, as I’ve already discussed.
Withdrawals are usually processed automatically, but the time it takes to receive the funds depends on the blockchain. Large transactions can require up to 24 hours of processing time.
How Secure is WEEX?
Traders are protected by WEEX’s 1,000 BTC Protection Fund and the Proof of Reserves, which shows that the platform always has enough funds to cover all the user holdings. WEEX is transparent about both, showing publicly the addresses it has for all of these, so anyone can see the exact amounts the brand holds.
Moreover, WEEX is properly regulated in several jurisdictions, including the US and Canada. It complies with the rules set out by both the US FinCEN and Canadian FINTRAC, as well as other bodies like the Australian AUSTRAC and the UK’s FCA.
Customer Support
WEEX primarily offers support to users via a live chat widget. It mainly relies on an advanced chatbot that can provide answers to almost any question, not predetermined ones. Moreover, it always gives you the option to get transferred to a real customer support agent if the bot hasn’t provided the answer you were looking for or you simply need more assistance.
The good news is that you can get support from real agents in multiple languages, as the site is geared toward a global audience.
There’s a full Help Center with a long list of guides and short answers to FAQs. You can also submit a request if you prefer email support.
Account Types
WEEX offers two types of accounts: a standard trading account and a demo account. The former is what you’d expect: the main account you get once you register and verify. It offers you crypto trading, derivatives trading, copy trading, and every other feature the site has to offer.
The demo account is designed for futures trading and allows you to try the trading side of WEEX for free. It effectively simulates real trading within the WEEX interface, but you don’t have to spend real funds.
How to Use WEEX
If you’re ready to start using WEEX for trading or buying crypto, let’s review how that works.
-
Sign Up for an Account
Visit the WEEX website and click the Sign Up button to begin the registration process.
Provide your email or phone number as the registration method. You can also choose your Google, Apple, or Telegram account. We’ll stick with email for now.
Once you provide an email and continue, you’ll receive a message in your inbox with a code. Enter the code back on WEEX to verify the email address. Then you’ll only need to create a password, and your account will be ready.
-
Deposit Funds
Visit the Deposit section and choose whether you want to deposit crypto or buy it.
To deposit crypto, you’ll need to transfer it from your wallet or another exchange. To buy it, you’ll get to use the quick buy option with a card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, or through the P2P trading feature, where you buy directly from other users without paying anything but gas fees.
If you choose to deposit crypto, all you need to do is choose a crypto and pick the network (if you’re using a crypto without a native network). You’ll get an address to copy into your wallet, or you can simply scan the QR code.
Then just enter the amount you want to transfer and complete the transaction, all through your crypto wallet. Once the blockchain confirms the transaction, the funds will appear in your WEEX account.
-
Trade Cryptocurrency
If you want to make a simple spot trade, you need to visit the Spot section. There, you need to find the trading pair you’re interested in. Let’s say you want to buy BTC on WEEX for USDT. Just find the BTC/USDT trading pair, and take a look at the Buy BTC area of the screen.
Choose the order type, enter the amount you want to buy, and click Buy BTC to place the order. Once the conditions are met and the transaction confirmed on the blockchain, you’ll receive BTC in your WEEX account, and that’s it.
-
Sell or Withdraw Coins
If you want to withdraw your funds from the site, you first need to sell crypto for fiat or proceed directly with the withdrawal process.
To sell crypto for fiat, you need to visit your wallet and pick the crypto you have and want to sell. Then, choose the Sell option, enter the amount, and the payment method. Then all that’s left is to double-check everything and confirm the sale.
Once you have the crypto or fiat to withdraw, you need to visit the Withdraw section in the account area. Pick the method and enter details like the wallet address for crypto or credentials for the payment method if you’re choosing fiat. Then enter the amount, review the details, and complete the request. Once it’s all processed, the funds will soon appear in your chosen method.
WXT Token & Relation to WEEX
The WXT or WEEX token is the native token of the WEEX exchange, offering several benefits to its holders. Most of all, you get up to a 70% reduction on your trading fees, depending on your VIP level.
Benefits also include access to free airdrops, as long as you hold at least 1,000 WXT, and better elite trader perks, like up to 20% profit share.
The token was issued on the Ethereum chain as an ERC-20 token, with the initial price of $0.01. The max supply is 10 billion, with almost half of that burned since the token’s launch in 2023. The price has been slowly rising since launch, with the all-time high being $0.045855.
Our WEEX Review Methodology
I’m dedicated to helping crypto fans and traders make informed decisions by conducting thorough reviews of exchanges like WEEX.
To achieve this, all of us at 99Bitcoins have developed a method for analyzing crypto trading platforms, which I’ve also used in this WEEX review. The goal is to scrutinize them all based on the same criteria to better understand how they fare in this industry and against each other.
Our methodology, which naturally includes using the exchange extensively, focuses on all the important aspects of exchanges, including trading features, available cryptocurrencies, security, fees, payment methods, and more.
WEEX Exchange Review: Final Verdict
WEEX is a reputable and trusted exchange with high no-KYC limits, focusing on offering regular promotions and perks for WXT token holders. It lets you trade over 600 cryptocurrencies, and provides both spot and futures trading with leverage up to 200x.
The platform is very user-friendly and has good customer support, but not offering staking is one of its biggest downsides. Despite that, it’s an excellent platform for a broad range of crypto investors, so if you’re interested, take a look at my instructions on how to register and create an account within minutes.
