Since 2013, 99Bitcoins has been a leading Bitcoin educational service, turning complex technical concepts into actionable knowledge. We apply this same “non-BS” philosophy to the world of crypto gambling.

As crypto casinos grew into a visible part of the crypto industry, in 2022, we decided to include gambling in our educational coverage. We strive to cover the entire crypto market in all its facets, not just Bitcoin, and with crypto casinos being high risk for our readers losing funds, we found this an important area to venture into and provide the same transparent, high-quality educational and safety content our community has come to expect from us over the years.

With thousands of new platforms emerging, many of them offshore and unlicensed, the risk of “rug pulls,” unfair odds, and withheld withdrawals is real. Our starting point is simple: we only recommend operators that hold a licence in the reader’s own market, checked on the regulator’s register. Everything else on this page builds on that rule.

Our “Primary Sources First” Philosophy

Unlike review sites that copy other reviews or rely on marketing materials, 99Bitcoins researchers work from primary sources and say where each fact comes from.

Real Licences: We look up every operator on the official register of the regulator in the reader’s market, such as the UK Gambling Commission’s public register, and record the licence reference and the date we checked it.

Real Terms: Bonus terms, payment methods and withdrawal times come from the operator’s own terms, promotions and banking pages, never from other affiliate sites.

Real Screenshots: Screenshots are our own, taken from the public lobby and promotion pages as a player in that market sees them. If a fact cannot be verified, we leave it out.

The 99Bitcoins 8-Point Audit Checklist

1. Crypto Casino Review Gate: Local Regulator Check (Weight: 25%)

The most important and heavily weighted of our scores, and a pass/fail gate. The operator must hold a licence from the regulator of the reader’s market, for example the UK Gambling Commission, a US state regulator such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, iGaming Ontario or a national European regulator. We check the licence on that regulator’s own register. A Curaçao, Anjouan or similar offshore licence does not count for a market that runs its own licensing system, and an operator without a local licence is not recommended, whatever its other scores. If a licence is expired or forged, the operator is blacklisted.

2. Identity Verification and Player Protection (Weight: 15%)

Licensed operators must verify each player’s identity and age before play or withdrawal. That protects minors, makes self-exclusion schemes work, and is required by anti-money-laundering law.

The Policy: We read the terms to see which documents are required and when, and whether the rules are explained clearly before a player deposits.

The Practice: We reward operators that verify quickly and transparently, for example through bank ID or “Pay N Play” in markets where licensed sites use it, and penalize those that hide verification until a withdrawal. We do not reward sites for skipping verification, and we do not recommend them.

3. Payout Speed and Payment Methods (Weight: 15%)

We record the payment methods and withdrawal times that the licensed operator publishes for the reader’s market. Where crypto is mentioned, we check that the licensed version actually accepts it; many regulated markets do not allow crypto deposits at all.

• Strong: Withdrawal times and limits published clearly, with no unexpected fees.
• Average: Times published but vague, or limits hard to find.
• Fail: No published payout terms, or terms that contradict what support says.

4. Game Fairness and Testing (Weight: 10%)

Licensed operators must use games whose random number generators are tested and certified under their regulator’s rules. We check for that certification, and for published return-to-player (RTP) figures. “Provably fair” tools that let players check a game’s server and client seeds are a useful extra, but they are not a substitute for a licence and independent testing.

5. Bonus Wagering Transparency (Weight: 10%)

A 200% bonus is a burden if the wagering requirements are 60x. We “math out” the bonuses. We look for:

• No-Wager Spins: High value.
• Sticky vs. Non-Sticky: Can you withdraw your initial deposit?
• Expiry Dates: Do you have enough time to actually clear the bonus?

6. Software & Game Library (Weight: 10%)

We check for industry giants like Evolution Gaming, NetEnt, and Pragmatic Play. A casino with only “In-house” games is a red flag unless those games are certified by an independent test lab such as iTech Labs under the regulator’s rules.

7. Customer Support “Torture Test” (Weight: 10%)

We present complex problems, like “My deposit hasn’t cleared after 10 confirmations,” to see if the support team is human and knowledgeable or just a script-reading bot. We will message support teams with issues ranging from simple to complex at various times of day to ensure responses are both quick and knowledgeable.

8. Responsible Gambling Options (Weight: 5%)

A trustworthy casino protects its players. We look for deposit, loss and time limits, reality checks, cool-off periods and self-exclusion, including participation in national schemes where they exist, such as GAMSTOP in the UK. We also check the operator’s reputation on community forums like Bitcointalk and Trustpilot.

Many readers search for “no-KYC” casinos. Our coverage of that topic explains the facts rather than ranking sites that skip checks:

• Why licensed sites verify you: identity and age checks are a legal requirement for licensed operators, to protect minors, support self-exclusion and prevent money laundering.
• Faster verification: in some markets, licensed casinos verify players automatically through bank ID (“Pay N Play”), which is the regulated answer to a quick sign-up.
• The risks of skipping it: sites that promise no ID are not licensed in markets that require it, and often trigger a “security check” only when a player tries to withdraw. We explain these risks and do not recommend such sites.
