How We Collect and Compute Our Crypto Data

Every source behind this hub, how often it refreshes, what we calculate ourselves, and the rules we hold every number to.

What We Compute Ourselves

These are our numbers, not anyone else's. Here is the arithmetic.

See them live

99BTC 20 Index

Sum of the market capitalisation of the twenty largest assets in our coverage, recorded on each snapshot. Reported as a level, with change measured against the same series 24 hours earlier.

Fear & Greed Score

A 0–100 composite blending volatility, price momentum, trading volume and market breadth. Below 25 is extreme fear; above 75 is extreme greed.

Altcoin Season Index

Take the top 50 assets by market cap. Remove Bitcoin and every dollar-pegged stablecoin. Score the share of the remainder that outperformed Bitcoin over the window. 75 or above is altcoin season; 25 or below is Bitcoin season.

Market Dominance

Bitcoin, Ether and stablecoin market capitalisation each as a share of total tracked capitalisation, with everything else as the residual. Stablecoins are shown separately so the altcoin share is not inflated by dollar pegs.

Market Breadth

The share of tracked non-stablecoin assets trading higher than they were 24 hours ago. It separates a broad rally from one carried by two or three large names.

Price Forecasts

A daily technical pass per asset: relative strength, moving averages, oscillators and pivot levels are scored into a buy/neutral/sell count, which drives an aggregate signal and projections from five days to one year.

Our Data Principles

We never invent a number

When a source has not captured a field, we print an em dash. We do not substitute a zero, carry forward an old value into a fresh-looking cell, or interpolate a gap. A blank is information.

We tell you how old the data is

Every block on this hub carries a timestamp showing when its underlying data last refreshed. If an upstream source is unavailable, we serve the last known good values and label them explicitly as cached, rather than silently showing stale figures as if they were live.

We say so when something is not working

When a source we depend on stops responding, the affected block says it is serving the last known values instead of quietly presenting them as live. A data operation that only ever displays green is not being honest about how data pipelines actually behave.

We remove the impossible, and say when we have

One filter runs over the raw DEX pool index. That feed is scraped from on-chain factories and contains broken and manipulated quotes — we have seen a single pool report more daily volume than the total money supply of the planet. Ranked by volume, those rows would sit at the very top of the screener.

So we drop pool rows reporting more than $1 trillion of 24-hour volume, more than $100 billion of liquidity, or volume exceeding 2,000× the pool's own depth. The DEX screener states how many rows this removed on the current refresh. We only ever remove rows we can demonstrate are impossible — no figure anywhere on this hub is smoothed, capped or adjusted.

We separate measurement from modelling

Prices, volumes, liquidity and on-chain flows are measurements. Forecasts, sentiment scores and season indices are models built on top of them. Model output is always labelled as such and never presented as fact.

Corrections

If you believe a figure on this hub is wrong, tell us — including the page, the field and what you think it should be. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
