In a shocking turn authorities have arrested a 32-year-old woman connected to the murder of crypto influencer Kevin Mirshahi.

Joanie Lepage from Les Cèdres is now behind bars, charged with murder and confining four people on June 21.

The Canadian crypto community has been living on the edge since the murder early this summer in Old Montreal.

The Incident Against a Crypto Influencer: A Chilling Kidnapping

In the early hours of June 21, influencer Kevin Mirshahi and three others were ripped from their apartment on de la Commune Street.

While the three other kidnapped individuals were found unharmed hours later, Mirshahi’s whereabouts remained unknown.

According to an arrest warrant made public at the Valleyfield courthouse, Lepage allegedly killed Mirshahi on the same day of the kidnapping and acted as an accomplice in the aftermath.

“The suspect faces, among other things, charges alleging the first-degree murder of Kevin Mirshahi and kidnapping,” said Montreal authorities.

The chilling case unfolded with the discovery of a burned-out SUV, believed to have been used in the kidnapping, and a subsequent police operation that located the surviving victims near a bus stop in Montreal’s west end.

Their testimonies were crucial in identifying a location in Les Cèdres, where Mirshahi’s murder is believed to have taken place.

Background and Broader Implications

Kevin Mirshahi, the enigmatic force behind the private investing group Crypto Paradise Island, attracted attention from Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). Basically, Canada’s SEC.

The AMF’s probe, ongoing since 2021, peeled back layers of unregistered dealings, leading to a decisive clampdown that silenced Mirshahi and his associates in the securities game.

Before the authorities could even lift a finger, Mirshahi had already met his untimely end.

Mirshahi’s family and the crypto faithful stand on the edge, awaiting justice to mend what’s been shattered.
