Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, was arrested in France. Reports claim his arrest was partly due to Yulia Vavilova’s social media activities.

When Binance was sued by the United States SEC, no one knew Changpeng Zhao, the CEO, would be one of the casualties.

Zhao ended up in prison and was sentenced to serve four months.

Could this be the predicament that Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram and the face behind Toncoin, will have to face in France?

Pavel Durov Arrest: Yulia Vavilova To Blame?

Over the weekend, Durov was arrested in France after stepping out of his private jet.

As it turns out, the reason behind his arrest was Yulia Vavilova, a crypto coach and streamer living and working in Dubai.

The 24-year-old reports how she had publicly documented her travels with Durov on social media.

Through this trail, authorities gathered valuable information that eventually allowed them to arrest the influential crypto founder.

Vavilova recently accompanied the Telegram founder to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan. During these trips, she kept sharing photos and crucial geolocation data of their multiple adventures with her followers on social media.

So, when Durov, with her in hand, ended up landing in Paris, authorities had an easy time picking them up before detaining the Telegram founder.

As it turns out, Vavilova’s digital trail proved vital, allowing French authorities to track Durov’s movements.

The arrest and detention of Durov caught the crypto world by surprise. Durov supporters are adamant that the arrest is a direct assault on freedom of speech and the right to privacy.

What are the Telegram Founder’s Charges?

Telegram is one of the most popular messaging apps. Through this tool, authorities claim Durov had failed to take sufficient measures to prevent criminals from using the platform.

The founder is now accused of enabling fraud, drug trafficking, organized crime, and promoting terrorism.

Authorities in Franch claim Durov, who is in charge of the messaging app, could have done more to prevent criminal activities enabled through the platform.

What’s Next For Durov and Ton Coin?

The continued detention of Durov will impact TON’s valuation.

But, how TON, closely linked with Telegram, navigates this storm will have a bigger bearing on the coin.

The Tonchain activity has been picking up steam with the success of Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and several other projects.

Additionally, the team supports USDT, meaning DeFi will soon begin taking shape via the Tonchain ecosystem.
