5 Bitcoin Plugins to Make the Most Out of Your WordPress site

About 6 months ago I started my Bitcoin website. Back then it was just gaining popularity and I had a hard time finding relevant Bitcoin plugins and widgets to make my site more user friendly. Today, as Bitcoin is getting more and more popular, you can find some useful WordPress plugins, although still not enough in my opinion. So here are the top 5 Bitcoin Plugins I found that will help you with your WordPress website or blog.

#1 Bitcoin Payments for WooCommerce

Bitcoin widget woocommerceProbably the most popular plugin for eCommerce WordPress sites today, this plugin will allow you to accept Bitcoin as an additional payment method. with over 3000 downloads this is the leading Bitcoin plugin on WordPress.org to date.

If you’re looking for another alternative to this WooCmmerce plugin you can also check out CryptoWoo. CryptoWoo natively supports acceptance of 3 currencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin) directly into the merchant’s cold storage. The integration with shapeshift.io let’s merchants accept 35 other digital currencies and get paid in one of the natively supported coins.

#2 Bitcoin Ticker Widget

Although I can’t be totally objective regarding this plugin since it was authored by my site, I believe that the Bitcoin Ticker Widget was something that was missing from the Bitcoin universe. I remember that I couldn’t find a single plugin that shows the different BTC prices with a graphical representation of the latest prices. So this plugin will show you prices from Mt.Gox, BTC-E and Bitstamp. It will also give you a graphical representation of the price fluctuation in the last 24 hours.

#3 CoinWidget BTC/LTC donation widget

This simple widget will allow you to request donations for your website in either Bitcoin or LiteCoin. The implementation is very nicely done and once you click on the donate button a popup will appear showing the wallet to donate to. It will also automatically send the address to your online wallet if compatible.

#4 CoinBase Bitcoin payments plugin

If you only wish to accept Bitcoins as payment and not other forms of payment you can use CoinBase’s plugin. Although this is a very early stage plugin, it seems to do the job well. CoinBase is an international digital wallet that allows you to securely buy, accept and use Bitcoins. My advice to you is that if you are not located in the US don’t use CoinBase, since it is currently only fully compatible with US residents.

#5 Reddit Bitcoin Widget

If you want to populate your website with new Bitcoin related stories you can use this Reddit Bitcoin Widget. Although not WordPress dedicated it is still a good resource to gain fresh and interesting content to your website.

I hope you found a plugin or two you can use for your website. If you have an interesting Bitcoin plugin you’ve created and want me to update it on my Blog please send me an email.
