Will Atsuko Sato's Neiro Become Next DOGE? Will 99BTC Follow?

A new meme coin is becoming popular on major blockchains: Could Neiro, Atsuko Sato’s new Shiba Inu coin, be the future Dogecoin?

For those unfamiliar with the story behind Dogecoin, in 2010, Atsuko Sato uploaded a photo of her dog, Kabuso, tilting his head with a funny but curious expression.

The photo went viral, both on Reddit and Tumblr. People nicknamed Kabuso “Doge” as a play on the word “dog,” and it became the famous meme we all know.

Dogecoin, the crypto, was born in 2013. Programmers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer created Dogecoin (DOGE), a cryptocurrency with Kabosu’s image on its logo.

Originally intended as a “joke,” Dogecoin has surprisingly gained traction and value and is now the leading meme coin.

Unfortunately, Kabuso died a few months ago, in May 2024, news announced in a tweet by Sato herself.

Sato Adopts Another Dog, Neiro, and Instantly Becomes a Meme

On July 27, 2024, Sato announced on X that she had adopted a new dog, another Shiba Inu, and named her Neiro, which means “the color of sound.”

Right after the announcement, numerous Neiro meme coins were launched on major blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, and Base.

Within a few hours, dozens of Neiro coins were already in circulation and of course there was no shortage of scams. Apparently one of these, launched on Ethereum, is a honeypot that many scans failed to identify.

It bypasses most automated scan tests but owner is constantly calling AutomatedMarketMaker() with addresses, which modifies the transfer() function, likely blacklisting any new buyers.

Despite this risk, trading volume continues to be very high: on Solana for example, one of these meme coins reached 224 million in volume in less than 24 hours and an ATH of $124 million.

Some consider Atsuko Sato’s new Shiba Inu Neiro the possible future of Dogecoin, so it is no surprise that there is so much interest surrounding it.
