Ripple vs. SEC Case Nears Resolution
Since launch, XRP has consistently ranked among the top 10 cryptos.
Ripple, an independent U.S.-based company, aims to revolutionize finance and uses XRP in its on-demand liquidity platform to enable instant settlements via the XRP Ledger.
However, in a legal setback for Ripple and Ripple Labs, the developers of the XRP Ledger, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) accused the company of illegally raising funds by selling XRP, which it deemed an unregistered security.
This accusation came in late 2020. Although XRP prices initially fell, they have since recovered spectacularly.
XRP is currently trading above $2.5, steadily rising and outperforming some of the best Solana meme coins.
Alongside a landmark trade deal between the U.S. and the U.K. on Thursday, which boosted Bitcoin and top altcoins, the primary catalyst is the nearing resolution of the Ripple vs. SEC case.
The official settlement letter, submitted to Judge Analisa Torres, marks one of the final stages in closing the case.

Ripple will pay a reduced penalty of $50 million, lower than the $2 billion demanded by SEC officials during the Gary Gensler era.
Additionally, the settlement dissolves a restrictive injunction that would have barred Ripple from selling XRP in secondary markets and permits the return to Ripple of over $75 million held in escrow.
What remains is for Ripple and SEC lawyers to seek a limited remand from the Court of Appeals, requesting the dismissal of their respective appeals.
This step depends on Judge Torres issuing an indicative ruling. If the Court of Appeals approves, Judge Torres will formally close the case.
Will XRP Break $3?
Although the SEC has not yet classified XRP as a commodity, the coin is poised to attract institutional interest.
Ahead of this decision, XRP, alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum, is trending upward.
XRPUSDT bulls are eyeing $2.8 and potentially $3 in a continued bullish trend.
