After last week’s Decentralized Science (DeSci) meetup at Devcon, led by Vitalik Butern and CZ, the sector has been going crazy. In the days following that viral meet-up, the DeSci category on CoinGecko is up over 30%, having just passed $1 billion in combined market cap.
At the DeSci meet-up in Bangkok, Vitalik Buterin showcased VitaDAO’s first longevity product, ‘VD001’, a natural high-dose spermidine supplement approved by the Thai FDA. During his talk at the event, CZ expressed his hopes of seeing “1,000 DeSci projects next year.”

Pump.Science: DeSci’s Answer To Pump.Fun
In typical fashion with this market cycle, it didn’t take long for a Pump.Fun equivalent to being created for DeSci. Pump.Science is a meme token issuance platform launched by Molecule DAO. Players can purchase meme tokens representing drugs and participate in predicting drug effects and trade experimental data.
The first two tokens on Pump.Science, RIF, and URO launched back in September with 0 buzz. Both tokens struggled to break above $500,000 in market cap. However, this quickly changed with the current attention on DeSci.
URO is currently trading above $60 million, around 80x from it’s pre-pump levels.
RIF has gone even further, briefly touching $240 million before a slight retrace, which has it sitting at around $195 million in market cap. Just three days ago, the market cap of RIF was $1 million, with current returns at around 190x.

All Eyes On BIO Protocol After Binance Labs Investment And Token TGE Coming Soon
Pump.Science launched back in September with little fanfare, but its surge in activity can be attributed to CZ and Vitalik’s recent promotion of the DeSci sector. Before the DeSci meetup at Devcon, on November 8, Binance Labs announced its investment in BIO Protocol. This marked Binance’s first entry into the fast-emerging DeSci sector.

BIO Protocol’s primary focus is on medical research. It aims to use blockchain technology to change the financing and commercialization methods of early scientific research.
BIO Protocol founder Paul Kohlhaas has stated that the protocol aims to break the traditional funding bottleneck in scientific research and promote patient-driven research globally, bringing about revolutionary changes.
The firm just concluded a $33 million funding round, with investors eagerly awaiting the announcement of the token launch.
