A user with a high-end system (RTX 4090 GPU, 13th Gen Intel i9-13900HX, 64GB DDR5 RAM) reported their CPU temperature hitting 100°C at the main menu. And the temperature was reported to keep going up, even with fans running like a jet engine. This is far exceeding the performance demands of other AAA games.
This allegation begins after another player noticed two new processes, “1” and “00da0b15-86f4-4b3e-8632-35e88b298f80,” appearing in their startup tab after launching the game, using 100% of CPU and GPU.

Adding to the suspicion, some users also reported that antivirus software, such as Bitdefender, detects up to seven separate files. These files are said to include potential viruses and crypto miners when attempting to install the game from the official website.
Some are calling Once Human a crypto mining trojan. The free-to-play setup, plus the developers’ tight lips on the mining claims, have destroyed trust.
