Major players such as ETH, XRP, and BNB are some of the more obvious plays to hold in 2025, but newer gems such as SNORT and HYPER also feature on the following list. Investor sentiment is on the rise after the cryptocurrency market increased 0.1% on the day, taking the global market cap to over $3.8 trillion.
Top 5 Crypto To Hold: No. 1 – Ethereum (ETH)
CoinGlass data shows that Ethereum recorded 15 consecutive weeks of inflows across its traded products, with major institutions like BlackRock participating. Its run has since been broken, with inflows being trumped by outflows on both August 1 and August 4, before returning to a positive inflow yesterday (August 5).
From a technical perspective, Ethereum’s bullish potential is still strong. However, it must first overcome a significant supply zone between $3,600 and $4,000, which has been rejected multiple times since 2021. A successful breakout above this level would indicate a move beyond its previous all-time high of approximately $4,867.
If it fails to break this resistance, there could be a temporary price lag. Nevertheless, increased accumulation, especially from institutional investors, may trigger a broader market rally in the near future.
@MerlijnTrader, a prominent analyst and trader on X, is likening the current ETH price action to its 2016-2017 movements. In a recent post, he said, “ETH 2025 is replaying 2016 to the pixel. Same range. Same fakeout. Same rounded base. But this time? ETFs, institutions, and global adoption aren’t just in play, they’re locked and loaded. Wall Street is here. $10K isn’t a dream. It’s the roadmap.”

For the current chart, ETH is just now at the resistance level, with a breakout looking set to take it to a new all-time high and potentially put it on track for a run toward $10,000.

Binance Coin (BNB), the native token of the BNB Smart Chain, remains one of the top-performing assets. Over the past five years, BNB has cemented itself as a top 10 token by market cap. It is currently number five, with a market cap of over $105 billion.
Between June 2024 and now, BNB has achieved three new all-time highs since its peak of $691 in 2021. The most recent rally saw the token climb to $861 on July 28, 2025.
Institutional interest in BNB is also increasing. Notably, just before its latest high, Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. established a $520 million reserve in BNB.
Also, Nasdaq-listed CEA Industries Inc. recently announced the successful closing of a $500 million private placement offering on August 5, 2025, to advance its BNB treasury strategy.
The offering was led by Yzi Labs (formerly Binance Labs) and delivered $500 million in gross proceeds. CEA Industries Inc. said it will change its name to “ BNB Network Company” and its ticker symbol on the Nasdaq Stock Market from VAPE to BNC.
From a technical perspective, BNB has strong potential to reach a new all-time high, especially if it trades into the demand level just below its current price. This zone might provide the catalyst needed for the next upward movement.

XRP, Ripple’s native token, has experienced a strong upward trend, indicating significant potential for further gains. This growth has been primarily driven by regulatory clarity following a lengthy legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding whether XRP qualifies as a security.
From early November, just days before Donald Trump’s election win, until July 14, XRP achieved remarkable gains of over 630%, reaching a new all-time high of $3.65 on July 22.
With the SEC expected to either withdraw its case, request an extension for a timeline, or initiate further legal actions, a withdrawal could lead to a substantial price surge. In such a scenario, XRP might surpass its recently reestablished all-time high of $3.66.
Many analysts believe that the conclusion of the legal battle, coupled with the potential approval of a spot XRP ETF product in Q4, could propel the asset beyond $5.
Bloomberg analysts have the odds of approval for a spot XRP ETF at 95%, with final decisions slated to occur sometime in Q4. Grayscale, Bitwise, 21shares, Canary, Franklin, Coinshares, and WisdomTree are all institutions that have XRP ETF applications with the SEC right now.
XRP is currently trading for $2.95 and is valued at $175 billion, making it the third-largest digital asset by market cap. The 24-hour trading volume for Ripple’s native token is $4.95 billion.
