The current Ethereum price prediction has ETH pressing against critical support, trading near $1,660 after a -5% drop over the past 24 hours that shattered the $1,700 level and forced a rapid reassessment of medium-term targets. The question now is whether the next catalyst is already in place.
A freshly announced research lab, backed by Ethereum’s own institutional stakeholders and five former Ethereum Foundation (EF) senior researchers, has just gone public, and the timing is hard to ignore.
The Ethereum Foundation Can’t Save ETH. Enter Ethlabs.
With the Ethereum Foundation safely confined to its ivory tower of "credible neutrality"—conveniently detached from vulgar concepts like token value accrual—a group of high-profile EF alumni are stepping out to do the dirty…

On Monday (June 22), Ethlabs officially launched, co-funded by Ethereum treasury holders BitMine Immersion (BMNR) and SharpLink (SBET), alongside Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin. The lab’s five co-founders, Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Caspar Schwarz-Schilling, Josh Rudolf, and Julian Ma, are all former EF contributors.
SharpLink’s official statement frames Ethlabs’ mandate squarely around institutional readiness: “faster settlement, native issuance and cross-chain movement on robust infrastructure, capacity on mainnet and research that grounds ETH’s monetary properties.”
Ethereum Price Prediction: Can ETH Break $1,700 or is $1,500 Next?

ETH is currently consolidating in the $1,650–$1,700 range, coiling just below a resistance band that has defined price action for the past several sessions.
The immediate ceiling at $1,700–$1,750, with structural overhead at the $1,825 200-day EMA and the $1,920 200-day SMA. Immediate support is at $1,600, a key level that must hold if $1,500 is to be avoided.
Binance Square analyst CryptotradeKD frames ETH as entering a new mid-term uptrend following the $2,100 breakout, flagging $2,100–$2,250 as the probable retest zone before a push toward $2,700 and higher. FXEmpire puts it plainly: the road to $2,800 is cleared after the $2,150 breakout, backed by a 14% seven-day gain. IG’s desk stays bullish above $2,062.39, targeting the $2,500–$2,800 region.
Three scenarios from here:
- Bull case: ETH holds $1,600 support and breaks $1,700 with conviction; MEXC targets $1,900–$2,100 on that confirmation, with $2,350 as the extended objective.
- Base case: Price oscillates in the $1,625–$1,700 range through the week, digesting gains before the next directional move.
- Bear/invalidation: A close below $1,600 invalidates the breakout thesis; deeper support is at $1,500–$1,525, then $1,496–$1,366.
For a deeper breakdown of ETH’s key support and resistance structure, the technicals are mapped in granular detail. The Ethlabs launch adds a fundamental layer to what was already a technically constructive setup, but confirmation that $1,600 holds is the first step.
Bitcoin Hyper Targets Early-Mover Upside as Ethereum Tests Key Levels
ETH’s downtrend is real, but even at a spot price of $1,650+, the asymmetric upside window remains narrow. Traders chasing that move are now buying into a chart that has already repriced 35% in 48 hours. That’s the uncomfortable arithmetic of entering momentum plays late.
Bitcoin Hyper (HYPER) is a Bitcoin Layer 2 presale currently raising at $0.013682 per $HYPER token, with $32,873,914.27 raised to date. The project’s core claim is technically specific: it integrates the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), the execution environment that powers Solana’s speed, directly onto a Bitcoin Layer 2, delivering what the team says is faster performance than Solana itself.
For Bitcoin, which offers no native smart contract programmability, that’s a meaningful architectural departure. The infrastructure stack includes a Decentralized Canonical Bridge for BTC transfers, extremely low-latency transaction processing, and staking rewards at a high APY for early participants. For more context on the project’s technical architecture, this breakdown covers the mechanics in detail.
