Today’s BTC USD price prediction has the leading digital asset trades at $79,600 as of this writing, completely flat on the day, sitting right in the pocket between last week’s breakout and the resistance wall above it. That’s a tighter range than the headlines suggest. Below are the levels that actually matter for the next move, and one project betting big on fixing Bitcoin’s oldest problem.
The rally that took BTC from the low $60,000s to above $81,000 has cooled but not collapsed. CNBC reported that Bitcoin briefly cleared $81,000 on August 25 before settling near $79,287, citing renewed inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs as the driver.
Reuters pegged the same move at a more-than-three-month high, crediting a softer US dollar. Bloomberg’s take was less romantic: a wave of leveraged-position liquidations helped force the price higher, meaning short-covering, not just fresh conviction, did some of the heavy lifting.
That distinction matters. A breakout built on forced buying behaves differently than one built on organic demand, and traders are now watching whether spot flows can carry the baton.
BTC USD Price Prediction: Can Bitcoin Clear $80,000 This Week?
At $79,655.08, Bitcoin sits just below the $80,000–$81,000 resistance band, which has capped every attempt since the breakout. Recent analysis flagged this exact zone as the line between consolidation and a fresh leg up.
A close above $83,000 would confirm the stronger breakout scenario some analysts say opens a path toward $100,000. The base case looks like continued chop between $76,000 support and $81,000 resistance while the market digests last week’s 21.9% seven-day gain.
The bear case isn’t hard to picture. A break below $75,000 support, followed by $72,400–$73,500, would call the rally’s credibility into question and reopen the $67,000–$70,000 zone as a magnet.
Prior coverage of the sub-$79,000 setup outlined similar downside risk tied to options expiry. None of this is resolved yet. Worth tracking rather than trading blind.

Bitcoin Hyper Targets Early Mover Upside as Bitcoin Tests Key Levels
A move from $64,000 to $81,000 is real money for early holders. But Bitcoin’s own architecture hasn’t changed; it’s still slow, expensive to use for anything beyond transfers, and closed off from the smart-contract economy that has fueled Ethereum and Solana.
For traders chasing asymmetric upside rather than incremental gains on an asset already near $80,000, that gap is where attention is shifting.
Enter Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER), marketed as the first Bitcoin Layer 2 (a secondary network built on top of Bitcoin to add speed and functionality) with Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) integration, the same tech stack behind Solana’s speed, bolted onto Bitcoin’s security.
The presale has raised $33,087,186.94 at a token price of $0.0136853, with staking rewards offered at a high APY. Its Decentralized Canonical Bridge aims to enable BTC to move to the L2 without trusting a centralized custodian.
