Avalanche (AVAX) crypto is quietly climbing to become the second biggest public blockchain for tokenized real-world assets. This tells us two important things. Big institutions and asset issuers are actually trusting Avalanche with serious money, and the high RWA value is concrete proof that people are using it, not just hyping it.
Avalanche’s total value locked has more than doubled since July 2024. The numbers back it up with market cap jumping 67% quarter over quarter from $7.6 billion to $12.7 billion. DeFi TVL grew 41.6% from $1.5 billion to $2.2 billion, and average daily DEX volume exploded 182.4% from $143.2 million to $404.4 million.
Stablecoin market cap also increased 21% from $1.4 billion to $1.7 billion, and RWA TVL shot up a massive 252.3% from $192.1 million to $677 million. But it doesn’t stop there. They just announced SIERRA, a first-of-its-kind Liquid Yield Token on the Avalanche network.

Unlike traditional yield products that make you stake tokens, deposit minimums, or wait around, SIERRA lets users earn yield instantly and transparently. Anyone can swap USDC for SIERRA directly through the Sierra web app or LFJ, which is the largest decentralized exchange on Avalanche.
Eric Kang, Head of DeFi at Ava Labs, said Sierra’s launch shows how real-world assets and DeFi can actually work together to create a seamless, transparent, and accessible way for anyone to earn yield on chain.
