The FBI has thwarted a wild plot to kidnap a Miami jeweler and steal around $2 million in cryptocurrency. A court filing shows that a confidential source regarding the planned abduction tipped off law enforcement.
They claimed that an individual known as Jack had put together a group via the Telegram messenger app and that his crew was planning to hit the target on January 13, 2025.

Jack (Evan Puckett – ‘The Boss’) started a group chat on the popular Telegram app to arrange the kidnapping and allegedly referred to his cohorts as the “Goons.”
Screenshots were shared that appeared to show the victim, who works at the Seybold Jewelry building in Miami, confirming he had a sizeable portfolio of crypto in his possession and was prepared to exchange it for cash.
In the court filing, FBI Special Agent Ryan Dreibelbis states that Jack detailed how the abduction should be carried out. One particular message said, “I told them not to hurt or do shi to him. We just need to get him.”
The “goons”, also stated in the messages that they would be armed with Mac-10s and .223 assault-style rifles when carrying out the abduction of the Miami jeweller.

Law enforcement’s confidential source revealed that they had been asked to supply the vehicle to be used for the kidnapping. Per the court filing, it was agreed that “a tall black guy” called “D” would deliver the vehicle.
Prior to the Chevy Tahoe being delivered to the would-be robbers, law enforcement swooped in and bugged the SUV with recording devices and GPS tracking. Then, an undercover agent played the role of “D” to meet one of the suspects face-to-face.
As the four men involved in the plot met up on the day of the kidnapping, they were confronted and apprehended by officers.
Three of the four attempted to flee but were quickly taken down, while the fourth managed to make it to a nearby establishment, where he was then caught.

Bugged calls between the group heard them saying they had planned to give the victim “one good bop” on the head but didn’t want to cause brain damage.
Evan Puckett, Tre’von Anthony Neal, Zacary Briggs and Aaron Hammond are all charged with kidnapping conspiracy and attempted kidnapping.
They are being held in jail without bond and are due to appear in court in Florida on Tuesday 21 January.
