Hunter Horsley Thinks Trump Administration Will Bring A Crypto Boom

On account of Donald Trump being re-elected, Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise Asset Management said, “2025 is going to be so fascinating.”

On a 6 January 2025 post on X, Horsley shared his perspective on how the return of Trump as US President could indirectly fuel the growth of cryptocurrencies.

By fostering a surge in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity across traditional industries, Horsley argues that the resulting market consolidation may drive more individuals toward decentralized digital assets.

M&A Revival Under Trump: A Catalyst For Crypto?

The Trump administration is widely expected to create a favorable environment for M&A activity.

Factors such as lower interest rates, deregulation, and pro-business policies could accelerate corporate consolidation.

According to Dealogic data, M&A activity in 2024 reached $1.4 trillion, marking an improvement from 2023 but still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels.

With Trump back in office, 2025 could become a pivotal year for M&A growth.

Horsley envisions a scenario where major corporations—such as Amazon or Google—leverage their significant market capitalizations to acquire smaller competitors.

For example, Amazon could potentially buy Instacart, or Google might acquire Uber. While this consolidation may benefit large corporations, it could also squeeze out mid-sized companies and further concentrate power within a few dominant players.

This trend aligns with a core principle of cryptocurrency: distrust in centralized institutions.

As Horsley explains, “The conceptual premise of crypto is not trusting large institutions to do what’s in your best interest. The big getting bigger accentuates this.” In essence, the more centralized traditional markets become, the more appealing decentralized alternatives like Bitcoin and Ethereum may appear to consumers.

“A Major Theme In 2025 Is Going To Be The Arrival Of Corporates”

Horsley shared a list of top corporate companies and their Bitcoin holding.

He said, “A major theme in 2025 is going to be the arrival of corporates — Bitcoin Standard Corporations .”

“There are many private companies like Bitwise Investthat hold Bitcoin on the balance sheet as well. Exciting to see,” he added.

In a separate post, Horsley also shared that that there are estimated 58 million millionaires globally and there’s only enough Bitcoin for 1 in 3 of them to have one.

“The scarcity of Bitcoin is going to start to feel dramatic as it enters the mainstream,” he pointed out.
