Your Benchmark says $25 a year earnings but I have 2 AMD R9 290x GPUs, I7 CPU 12GB Mem – can that be correct? What am I doing wrong? I have updated the firmware from AMD.
Are you talking about profits from Bitcoin mining? It would seem so. The reason why GPUs are no longer profitable to use for mining is that they have been made obsolete by ASIC mining technology. Application-Specific Integrated Circuits are chips designed specifically for mining a certain crypto’s algorithm – unlike graphic cards, they are entirely specialised for this single application. Being hyperspecialised makes them massively more efficient for Bitcoin mining.
Don’t worry though, your GPUs are still good for mining altcoins with different, ASIC-resistant algorithms. Ethereum and Monero are some possibilities, check out the CoinWarz site for ranking by profitability (you’ll have to eliminate ASIC-mineable algos, such as SHA-256, Scrypt, X11 and some others).
