Are Plugin Upgrades Difficult?

Bitcoin Questions and AnswersCategory: QuestionsAre Plugin Upgrades Difficult?

I read that there can be problems upgrading plug-ins using zip files, for example here, Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades. Will you be putting the plug-in on wordpress.org anytime? Or do you have any advice/instructions for upgrading manually? That plug-in linked above didn’t seem to work last time anyway.

I’m still debating on whether to put this on WordPress.org. The only reason not to is because I don’t want to have to maintain the plugin both here and there. To upgrade manually you should just replace the wp-content/plugins/99bitcoins-btc-faucet content with the new version.
The plugin you shared here is great, I’ll try it myself, as this process is indeed a bit more cumbersome.

Will try to add them when I get the time.

That’s good, I’ll try the plug-in again next time, it’s more likely I did something wrong that something wrong with the plug-in. I had to rebuild the faucet last time, but that’s not good when you have actual users, so now is the best time to find out. Some step-by-step instructions for upgrading (for dummies) on the download page would be useful.

I haven’t done itmyself so I can’t be sure, but I think if you put it on github you can sync it with your setup and then use something like Ship to automatically push updates to wordpress.org.

We’ve just implemented auto update to the plugin so you can update from within the WP dashboard.
