32-Year-Old Arrested And 7 Figures In Crypto Seized Following Analytics Specialists Cracked Multiple Seed Phrases
The huge crypto bust also saw the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect, Jay Je Yoon Jung, from New South Wales. The man from Narwee was arrested on September 17 as part of AFP Operation Kraken and charged with five offenses, including supporting a criminal organization.
The illicit assets were secured after an analytics specialist within the CACT team deciphered the wallet’s seed phrase following analysis of digital devices recovered from the suspect’s home in Narwee, New South Wales.
This decryption of the seed phrases allowed AFP to access the digital assets. These assets have since been transferred into secure AFP cryptocurrency storage.
The cryptocurrency has been seized under the Commonwealth Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. This seizure, linked to AFP’s Operation Kraken, comes after the CACT restrained assets linked to a syndicate in Western Australia last month.
