Bitcoin Back Over $100,000 Two Weeks Out From Trump Starting His Second Term As President
Early Monday morning (January 6) in the US, Bitcoin broke the $100,000 level for the first time in 2025, where it is now trading for over $101,000. Bitcoin’s surge back over 100k is likely powered by the close to 100% increase in options trade volume in the past 24 hours, per Coingecko.
With President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony just two weeks away, market participants anticipate pro-crypto regulation and policy for the next four years.
Probably the most bullish early news for the digital asset space in the US is Trump replacing Gary Gensler, the bane of crypto, as the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) Chair with pro-crypto Paul Atkins.

No crypto company anticipates Trump’s upcoming presidency as more positive catalyst for the markets than Ripple. Ripple Labs, the firm behind XRP and, more recently, the RLUSD stablecoin, closed more US deals in the last six weeks of 2024 than in the six months prior.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlichouse made a passionate post on his personal X account. “2025 is here, and the Trump bull market is real. This is even more personal for Ripple after Gensler’s SEC effectively froze our business opportunities here at home for years. The optimism is obvious and very deserved,” Garlinghouse said.
He went on to add, “Today: 75% of Ripple’s open roles are now US-based, while over the last 4 years, the vast majority of hires were outside the US (and) We signed more US deals in the last six weeks of 2024 (since the election) than the previous six MONTHS”
The Ripple CEO finished with praise for Trump and his chosen team, saying, “Team Trump is already jumpstarting innovation and job growth in the US with Scott Bessent, David Sacks, Paul Atkins, and others at the helm, and they aren’t even in office yet! Say what you want, but the “Trump effect” is already making crypto great again – through his campaign and in the Administration’s day 1 priorities.”

Many PolitiFi coins are experiencing huge price spikes due to the upcoming Presidential inauguration in two weeks. MAGA Hat ($MAGA) and MAGA ($TRUMP) are the two main benefactors. $MAGA is up 81% over the past week, while $TRUMP has mooned over 93% in the same time frame.
