But there’s a new theory, provided by the computer pioneer Ted Nelson, who claims to know the true name of Bitcoin’s father. Brace yourselves: he says Shinichi Mochizuki, a math professor at Kyoto University is the man we’ve looked for all this time. Can this be for real?
The legendary Ted Nelson even made a video talking about his theory. According to him, Shinichi Mochizuki got famous last year for figuring out the famous and complex ABC conjecture, which was proposed in 1985 and explores the relation between prime numbers.
This conjecture has been considered the most important unsolved problem in a math branch called Diophantine Analysis. But, in 2012, Shinichi Mochizuki cracked the problem in a 500-page proof. His life has been brilliant so far: the math professor went to Philip Exeter Academy and graduated in only two years. He then studied at Princeton University, which he left at 22 years old with a PhD. With only 33, he was already a university teacher.
Ted Nelson’s theory might be circumstantial, but the facts are there: Mochizuki is a genius, he fits the profile of the Bitcoin creator and he doesn’t use the conventional scientific peer review process. Have we figured out Satoshi Nakamoto’s true identity?
