What happens with crypto once a BlackRock rolls in? Nothing.

The big asset managers are already here, and their customers are spending like mad to own Bitcoin btc-bitcoin icon btc-bitcoin icon Price Trading volume in 24h Last 7d price movement even as it pushes new all-time highs.

BlackRock is the second-largest institutional investor in the crypto market, with a $30 billion investment in blockchain (10% of its total assets under management).

“I see huge opportunities in a digitized crypto blockchain-related currency and that’s where I think it’s going, and that’s going to create some big winners and some big losers.”

— BlackRock’s CEO Larry Fink

If you follow the money trails, they always lead back to BlackRock. They’re always up to something.

Here’s what they believe will succeed in the crypto market,

The $2 Billion Bet: RWA Crypto Is The Big Play

Blackrock has been involved in the crypto world for years and even flirted with disaster—almost losing billions to Silicon Valley Bank because its company Circle had a lot of volatile stablecoin collateral.

BlackRock also got scammed by FTX. Something Larry Fink lost his shit over. Even the savviest investors get scammed.

“[BlackRock had] a $24 million investment in a fund of funds; it was not a core part of our business,” he reassured investors.

So now BlackRock’s on attempt three.

(Fool me once?)

Now, they believe real-world assets backed by blockchain technology, platforms, and exchanges are the next big thing.

BlackRock: Real World Assets, Crypto’s Big Winner

Tokenization is the final in a trilogy of blockchain-driven financial liberation.

It all started with buying fractions of Bitcoin and moved on to fractionalized stocks through Robinhood and now it’s taking ownership far beyond just stock trading. Tokenization promises gold, real estate and other tangible assets being tokenized and traded — and with the ability to buy as much (or little) as you want.

According to Boston Consulting Group, the real-world asset sector could reach a market cap of $16 trillion by 2030.

One of the top RWA tokens right now is Centrifuge cfg-centrifuge icon cfg-centrifuge icon Price Trading volume in 24h Last 7d price movement , a decentralized tokenization protocol cracking open financing for small businesses everywhere.

Where Centrifuge stands out is the types of assets they tokenize:

  • Invoices
  • Mortgages
  • Micro-lending

Another exciting project I’ve been following like a wounded gazelle is Backed Finance. Although it hasn’t launched yet, it will tokenize stocks and ETFs on Ethereum and allow them to be freely transferable across wallets like Metamask and Rainbow.

Unfortunately, they’ll only be available outside the U.S. since they are not registered as a broker-dealer with the SEC.

Lastly, Ondo Finance ondo-ondo icon ondo-ondo icon Price Trading volume in 24h Last 7d price movement allows investors to invest fractionally in corporate bonds and equity. With Ondo, you can invest in traditional capital markets and get access to global stocks, bonds and ETFs. They also offer, what seems to me, stable returns up to 8%.

That’s all we got. Be sure to check out one of these options!
