Get ready for an unbelievable Florida Man story involving violent crypto robbery kidnapping. This shocking tale of crypto theft will haunt you.

This is a Florida Man story. You’ve been warned.

This week a Florida man has been convicted for leading a global gang extremely heinous and violent crypto heists, including threats of rape and kidnapping.

The DOJ says Remy St. Felix, 24, from West Palm Beach, could spend seven years to life in prison for the crime spree he went on.

Florida Man: A Brutal Crypto Robbery Kidnapping Unveiled

A Greensboro jury found St. Felix guilty of orchestrating a violent rampage against cryptocurrency holders across the U.S.

From September 2022 to July 2023, St. Felix’s crew raided homes in Durham, Florida, Texas, and New York. Kidnapping and assaulting victims forced them to give up their crypto.

It’s not the most sophisticated form of stealing crypto we’ve seen this year, yet certainly the craziest.

In April 2023, the gang invaded a home, zip-tied the victim at gunpoint, and transferred $150,000 in crypto, threatening more violence against the victim and their spouse.

“St Felix threatened to cut off the husband’s toes and genitals, shoot him, and rape his wife if they didn’t grant the intruders access to his Coinbase account,” the complaint alleged.

Chilling Details: Elaborate Planning and Execution

Trial evidence showed St. Felix’s crew hacked emails and staked out victims before striking. They funneled stolen crypto through Monero and sketchy DeFi platforms without KYC checks.

St. Felix was busted by the FBI in July 2023 on his way to another heist in New York.

Thirteen co-conspirators admitted guilt, leaving St. Felix to face nine charges, from conspiracy to armed robbery and wire fraud.

Sentencing for St. Felix is on September 11. We’d typically tell you to safeguard your passwords, but this case takes crypto crime to a whole new level of crazy.

It’s clear that home security is just as critical as protecting your digital stash from these lunatics.
