Email exchange suggests Google might say ‘yes’ to Bitcoin in a near future
Google could actually be planning a way to incorporate Bitcoin in the company’s future. At least, that is the biggest conclusion that can be squeezed from a few emails exchanged between Jarar Malik, developer of the Bitcoin classifieds site CoinList.me, and two representatives of the tech giant.
Malik decided to question some of the biggest companies in the world – Amazon, Apple and Google – to determine if any of them had plans for the cryptocurrency. After emailing all the major executives he could think about, he decided to lower his expectations. Until he hit the jackpot with Google’s senior vice president Vic Gundotra.
The executive not only answered back, but he also forwarded Malik’s query to another member of Google’s staff. From that moment on, a series of emails were exchanged with a couple of company representatives, who told the developer that Google is indeed considering how it can use the world’s most famous cryptocurrency.
Google Senior VP of Ads and Commerce Sridhar Ramaswamy told Malik what he wanted to hear. “We are working in the payments team to figure out how to incorporate Bitcoin into our plans”, Ramaswamy wrote, adding that he would get back in touch when the company was sure about this step.
In the meantime, the story was posted on Reddit and published by Forbes, whose reporter confirmed with Google that the emails were real true.
