The well-known Bloomberg terminal already has a Bitcoin ticker, but for now the feature is only available to the platform’s employees, according to the website BTC Geek, who revealed the story a few days ago.
The terminal is a computer system that gathers real-time financial market data and place trades, making the information available to finance and industry professionals that use the Bloomberg Professional service.
BTC Geek says the Bitcoin ticker has recently been released, but only to the employees, collecting the data from Mt. Gox and Tradehill. As stated by the website, the ticker might still be in a test stage.
If confirmed, this could mean a major boost in Bitcoin’s legitimacy in one of the most important territories for any type of currency: the world of high finance. Basically, if Bloomberg sees this information as useful, it means the financial experts out there see it too. So it can be just a matter of time until we see this feature go public: according to TechCrunch, the Bitcoin ticker should make its way to regular Bloomberg terminal customers under the label XBT.
