Just wanted to give you guys a quick heads up about Bitcoin Black Friday. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, noted as the first day of traditional Christmas shopping, during which crowds of consumers are drawn to special offers by retailers. Usually this is celebrated throughout the US alone. But this year no matter where you live you can get the best deals of the year using Bitcoin.

BitcoinBlackFriday.com is a website dedicated to giving you all of the best deals you can find with Bitocin accepting merchants. Last year BBF (Bitcoin Black Friday) made over $6M in sales and was mentioned on major news sites such as CNN, The New York Times and TechCrunch.

Bitpay, a Bitcoin payment processor,  has already announced to its merchants to get ready for the upcoming event. Over 1,200 merchants are expected to participate this year. Among the companies who will be participating in BBF are NewEgg (computer hardware and software retailers), Gyft (gift card reseller) and NameCheap (domain name registrant). Overstock, which is currently the largest company accepting Bitcoins as payment will not be listed on BBF but instead will have a dedicated section for Bitcoin deals on its own website.

It was rumoured that you will also be able to purchase small amounts of Bitcoin with little or no commission on BBF so this might be a great way to get started with your first Bitcoin. Jon Holmquist, the founder of BitcoinBlackFriday.com said they expect to surpass last year’s 100K visitor benchmark. However, last year’s BBF was amidst the Bitcoin boom where Bitcoin went over $1000 which probably helped in gain a lot of momentum so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

If you want to stay updated with all of the latest Bitcoin deals or even list a deal yourself you can easily do so by signing up with your email address on the BBF website.

  1. I think this is the perfect time for some friends of mine to get into Bitcoins because they keep bugging me about it. If the commissions are lower now, they can get some and see how this works. Thanks!

  2. Can’t wait for this year’s Bitcoin Black Friday! I wasn’t into Bitcoins last year but I heard it was awesome and this year I have some stashed away to buy some nice gifts!
