Uncover DJT token, a Donald Trump political finance-themed Solana meme coin with ties to Martin Shkreli and an infamous $100 million bet.
The creators of TRUMP token—featuring Donald Trump’s likeness—say the mainstream crypto world is stacked against them, a complaint straight from Trump’s playbook.
With no official ties to Trump, they still can’t get their political token on major exchanges, with some, like Kraken, actively refusing to list it.
Adding to the chaos, Martin Shkreli, known infamously as “Pharma Bro” on X, declared Wednesday that he co-created the DJT token with none other than Barron Trump.
The chaos erupted with a $100 million bet from crypto trader GCR and a $150,000 bounty from Arkham Intelligence to find the creator of Trump token.
One thing’s for sure: election season is about to get wild.
The Political Roadblock For Trump Token
The political controversy began when the coin’s marketing head Steven Steele told CoinDesk their push to get listed on big exchanges is being blocked at every turn.
“The exchanges that have refused to list TRUMP for ‘political reasons’ are exhibiting embarrassing levels of cowardice that is also incredibly tone deaf to the current memecoin landscape and their own customers,” Steele said.”To shun the pioneer of PoliFi because it’s a Trump-themed project in an election season wherein he is openly running as America’s first major Presidential ‘crypto candidate’ is shockingly out of touch and speaks volumes as to who they are and where they’re coming from,” he continued.
With its laser-eyed Donald logo, TRUMP coin finds a home on DEXs and obscure platforms like MEXC, LBank, BingX, and BitMart.
But efforts to crack into Kraken, a major U.S. exchange, have hit a wall. A Kraken spokesperson declined to comment.
Moreover, blockchain investigator ZachXBT linked Shkreli to DJT by uncovering that a significant DJT holder also possesses tokens from Shkreli’s project, Shoggoth.ai.
There’s also a strong chance Shkreli is pretending that Barron is on board with this to get the Trump supporters to buy in.
Donald’s campaign has yet to comment on these developments.
Hope for the Future of Donald Themed PoliFi Meme Coins
PoliFi tokens blend politics and meme culture to track candidates’ chances. Yet, exchanges like ByBit and OKX won’t touch TRUMP, calling it too politically risky.
CoinDesk obtained screenshots showing ByBit initially aimed for volume targets before rejecting TRUMP over politics.
Meanwhile, TRUMP stumbles while TREMP and BODEN, a Biden token, secure spots on Kraken and HTX, revealing a clear inconsistency in listing policies.
The landscape got messier with all PoliFi tokens tanking this week.
Despite a speculative 200% surge, DJT nosedived 58% in the last 24 hours. TRUMP fell over 38% before returning up 30% on today’s news, and TREMP is up 24%, CoinGecko reports.
Well, here we go. Let the wild election season begin.
