with who can I sign up to trade without having smartphone (for SMS) as I just have land line and everyone wants me to at least initially do some vedrifying with SMS?
That depends on your location. Wherever you are in the world, you should be able to use a peer-to-peer exchange like LocalBitcoins or Bisq to set up a direct trade with another person. You probably won’t be able to do an in-person cash trade with them, as these require a smartphone for both parties to verify that a transaction was made. If you’re in the US, the BitQuick service is pretty good and doesn’t require a smartphone, if I recall correctly.
There are plenty of exchanges in most locations. I’m afraid you’ll probably have to try them out until you find one which only requires email verification. I remember Bitfinex was email-only back in the day, but I believe this has changed. Kraken doesn’t require SMS notifications for trades either, fairly sure they don’t need to verify you by SMS either. I’d say Kraken is worth a try as it’s available in most locations and a pretty good exchange.
