Debit Card Denials

Lisa asked 8 months ago

Both of my debit cards(USD) have said they will not allow me to purchase Bitcoins. Is there another, safe way I can do this? I can not get my cards verified.

Hi Lisa,

Certain banks are difficult about allowing any kind of cryptocurrency-related transactions. I several US and international exchanges will accept debit card payments from the US, so perhaps you can try with a different bank’s card. If you ask the exchange which cards are accepted, that should save you from hitting another wall. See here for a list of exchanges which take debit cards:

As an alternative to debit card purchase, you can try a cash purchase (from a person or Bitcoin ATM. This method is usually quick and easy. See our guide to cash purchases:

You can also try a bank transfer via ACH or SWIFT. This is probably the most widely-accepted payment method on exchanges.
