Bitcoin ATM Genesis1 lands in Queensland

Queensland-based Bitcoiners can already buy and sell cryptocurrency without leaving the Australian state thanks to the new Bitcoin ATM that was recently installed in South Brisbane.

The machine, which can be found at The Roastery Cafe (25, Glenelg Street), is a Genesis1, manufactured by GenesisCoin. “There’s a lot of people who have been waiting for this. There’s Bitcoiniacs who have meetings everywhere every week, and these groups are growing rapidly”, Roastery Cafe co-owner Bruce Carrall told the Brisbane Times.

“I saw photos online of guys lining up out the door to use the machine so we looked into it. The turnover of these machines was incredible and they were spreading rapidly. They’re in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada”, he added.

The Genesis1 is slightly different from the usual Bitcoin ATMs. Besides dispensing and taking BTC, the machine also accepts and sells Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Besides welcoming the machine and its users, The Roastery Cafe will also be accepting cryptocurrency for its products.
